Jazeera Airways, Kuwait’s leading low-cost carrier, operated its inaugural flight to Aleppo International Airport earlier today. Aleppo becomes the airline's second destination in Syria, further strengthening air connectivity between Kuwait and Syria.
Present at the inaugural ceremony held at Jazeera Terminal 5 (T5) in Kuwait were H.E. Tamim Al-Madani, Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of the Syrian Arab Republic in Kuwait, Rethan Almousawi, Vice President – Ground Operations, and Nigel Fanning, Vice President – Strategy and Airport Partnerships from Jazeera Airways.
Speaking at the event, H.E. Tamim Al-Madani, Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of the Syrian Arab Republic in Kuwait, said:
"The launch of direct flights between Kuwait and Aleppo represents an important step in strengthening the longstanding ties between our two brotherly nations. This route will facilitate travel for families, support economic and cultural exchange, and contribute to reconnecting communities that share deep historical and social bonds. We welcome Jazeera Airways' commitment to enhancing connectivity with Syria and look forward to seeing stronger people-to-people and business relations as a result of this service."
The inaugural flight was welcomed at Aleppo International Airport by local government officials and airport representatives, commemorating the resumption of direct air services between Kuwait and Aleppo after 14 years.
Engineer Azzam Al-Gharib, Governor of Aleppo, said:
"Today marks a significant milestone for Aleppo as we welcome the resumption of direct air connectivity with Kuwait after many years. This route will help bring families closer together, encourage investment and trade, and support the continued revival of Aleppo as a center of culture, commerce, and tourism. We are delighted to welcome travelers from Kuwait on Jazeera Airways and across the region to discover the rich heritage, resilience, and hospitality of our city."
Omar Al Hosari, President of the Syrian General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), said:
"The resumption of direct flights between Kuwait and Aleppo reflects the ongoing efforts to strengthen Syria's aviation sector and expand international air connectivity. We welcome Jazeera Airways to Aleppo International Airport and look forward to further cooperation that enhances connectivity and creates new opportunities for travelers and businesses alike."
The new route currently operates twice weekly every Thursday and Saturday, responding to growing demand from travelers visiting family and friends, as well as those seeking convenient access between Kuwait and northern Syria to explore the country and its rich cultural heritage. Starting 21 July, flights will operate three times weekly, with an additional service on Tuesdays.

The addition of Aleppo further strengthens Jazeera Airways' regional network and supports the airline's strategy of connecting underserved markets with affordable and convenient travel options.
