Jazeera Airways Operates Inaugural Flight to Addis Ababa

Direct service strengthens connectivity between Kuwait and Ethiopia

Jazeera Airways, Kuwait’s leading low-cost carrier, today operated its inaugural flight from Kuwait to Addis Ababa, marking the launch of its newest destination in Africa and strengthening direct air connectivity between Kuwait and Ethiopia.

The inaugural flight was officially flagged off at Jazeera Terminal 5 (T5) with a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by H.E. Dr. Sied Muhumed Jibril, Ambassador of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to the State of Kuwait, and Naser Fahad Alobaid, Chief Executive – Government Affairs (CEGA) and CEO – T5, Jazeera Airways, celebrating this important new connection between the two countries.

H.E. Dr. Sied Muhumed Jibril, Ambassador of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to the State of Kuwait, said:

Direct air connectivity plays a vital role in bringing countries and communities closer together, and we welcome Jazeera Airways’ new service to Addis Ababa. We believe this route will contribute to stronger tourism, trade, investment and cultural exchange, while making travel more convenient for the large Ethiopian community in Kuwait. We look forward to seeing this connection grow and create new opportunities for both countries.”

The new service provides greater travel choice for the more than 70,000 Ethiopian nationals living in Kuwait, offering convenient direct connectivity for those travelling home to visit family and friends. It also creates new opportunities to support growing tourism, trade, investment and people-to-people ties between Kuwait and Ethiopia.
