Assistant Manager - Network Planning
Jazeera Airways is looking for the Assistant Manager – Network Planning & Scheduling (Short Term Scheduling role) will be responsible for leading the day-to-day scheduling function of Jazeera Airways, ensuring efficient aircraft utilisation, optimal commercial performance, accurate slot and permit management, and timely responses to operational and charter-related requirements. The role involves managing a team of schedulers and slots/landing-permit coordinators, while ensuring strict adherence to IATA standards—particularly SSIM Chapter 6—and delivering high-quality outputs under tight deadlines.
This position directly supports the AVP – Network Planning in driving network efficiency, capacity optimisation, and schedule integrity across the entire route portfolio.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- A. Scheduling & Network Planning
- Develop, optimise, and maintain short-term and medium-term flight schedules ensuring maximum aircraft utilisation and operational feasibility.
- Proactively monitor and adjust published schedules to reflect operational constraints (aircraft availability, maintenance, crew restrictions, slot timings, weather disruptions, airport constraints, ATC closures, etc.).
- Build operationally robust schedules that meet commercial objectives while balancing cost efficiency, connectivity, and regulatory requirements.
- Lead the schedule publication process ensuring accuracy and compliance with IATA SSIM Chapter 6 standards.
- Coordinate schedule changes with Revenue Management, OCC, Ground Operations, Sales, and Engineering to ensure smooth operational implementation.
- B. Slot & Permit Management
- Oversee the complete slot management process for seasonal and ad-hoc operations.
- Ensure accurate and timely submission of airport slot requests, slot returns and all relevant documentation.
- Liaise with global slot coordinators, airport authorities, and DGCA Kuwait to secure optimal timings.
- Oversee landing permits for all scheduled and charter operations in coordination with regulatory authorities.
- Maintain strong relationships with airport authorities and regulatory bodies worldwide.
- C. Charter Operations & Special Projects
- Evaluate and process charter flight requests ensuring aircraft availability, slot feasibility, regulatory approvals, and operational readiness.
- Prepare rotations and operational patterns for special missions (Hajj, Umrah, evacuations, sports team movements, government flights, seasonal charters).
- Provide rapid turnaround of charters quote feasibility, timings, and aircraft rotation plans.
- Support revenue teams with charter proposals by providing optimized operational plans.
- D. Team Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of schedulers and slots/permits specialists.
- Ensure continuous improvement in team productivity, accuracy, and responsiveness.
- Provide training and development on scheduling tools, SSIM standards, slot processes, and industry best practices.
- Drive cross-functional collaboration with Engineering, OCC, Finance, Sales, RM, and Ground Handling teams.
- E. Publications & Data Management
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation of flight schedules in SSIM format for distribution to internal and external stakeholders (GDS, Navitaire, airport authorities, partners).
- Manage seasonal schedule releases, schedule change notices (SCNs), and ad-hoc amendments.
- Maintain an organised schedule database and ensure all change logs are documented and communicated.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Aviation, Engineering, Business, Mathematics, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- 7–10 years of experience in Network Planning - Scheduling within an airline.
- Proven experience in schedule construction, slot coordination interactions, and SSIM handling.
- Experience handling a team or mentoring junior planners is an advantage.
- Exposure to multi-fleet or complex network environments is highly desirable.
- Solid working knowledge of IATA SSIM Chapter 6, airport slot coordination guidelines, and global permit processes.
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as DGCA Kuwait, GACA Saudi, and various international CAAs.
- Proficiency in airline scheduling systems (e.g., AIMS, Sabre Movement Manager, or similar).
- Strong MS Excel skills for modelling, schedule building, and data analysis.
- Ability to interpret airport capacity declarations, schedules, fleet plans, and ACA/ACL coordination messages.
- Ability to analyse aircraft utilisation trends, block-hour forecasts, connectivity impacts, and operational risk.
